Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery.....

I am so happy to have a collection of my Geo rings and earrings exhibited at Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery at Salts Mill....

Since 1996 this leading contemporary jewellery gallery has been set within Salts Mill, home to the world's largest collection of work by David Hockney. Open daily, it specializes solely in contemporary jewellery, silver and metal smithing showcasing diverse collections by over seventy renowned designers and emerging talents from Britain and abroad.
Much of the work on show pushes and blurs the boundaries between fine art, jewellery design and fashion resulting in jewellery that is, perhaps, best described as wearable art. Pieces are often created using a surprising range of materials and techniques.

A look at my design development for my 'Geo Collection'

For my 'Geo Collection' I researched the massively vast subject of Geometry! A very interesting subject that led me to some really amazing designs. Geometry is found almost everywhere in most peoples everyday life. It is found in nature, arcitecture, art, astronomy, space, machines, the list goes on.. Geometry is specifically linked to measurement and is used everyday in a number of specialised craftsmen.....Geo means earth, metry means measure.

When i think of geometry i immediatly think of complex mathmatics, although this is a huge part of geometry, and i have used very precise measurements in this collection, i was drawn into the beauty of geometry in nature. Once you acknowledge its alll around you, you really open your eyes to it and are touched by it everyday......I went geometry mad whilst designing this collection....I went searching for it everywhere.

I didnt have to look far.......

One of my first hand drawings of a beautiful plant i came across in the Eden Project, Cornwall

Another of my drawings of an amazing spiral fern that grow in the woodlands by my home.

My designs focus mainly on first hand drawings which use the fundamentals of geometry.

Initial drawings of how the designs started in 2D.....

From these primary drawings i then went onto make models and maquettes, that really helped bring together the design and bought up any initial mistakes.

These were a few of my paper maquettes, really enjoyable to make and gave a real sense of how the designs were going to look as a 3D piece.....

These were some of my favourite designs taken from the paper maquettes and made in copper.....
